After being a star attraction in Beijing during the grand parade marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the float from Northeast China’s Jilin province has returned in triumph to Changchun and is now on display at the city’s culture square on Oct 13-19.

Officials said it’s proved popular with Jilin folk, as large numbers of people have flocked to the culture square to view the float.

Let’s take a close look at the unique elements of the Jilin parade float.

Head of the float: Hongqi brand car

A brand of automaker FAW, which was established in 1953 in Changchun, Hongqi is an iconic sedan brand in China and is increasingly a hit with young people.

Flanks of the float: Changbai Mountain, snow and ear of rice

Changbai Mountain is a key natural landmark in Jilin province, boasting rich ice and snow resources. Also, Jilin’s rice is a well-known brand in China, generating more than 1 billion yuan ($140.96 million) of income for farmers annually.

Rear of the float: ginseng and corn

Ginseng is hailed as one of “three treasures of Northeast China”, while Fusong county in Baishan city in Jilin is reputed to be the “hometown of ginseng in China”, having the country’s largest-scale ginseng trading center.

Jilin’s corn belt is one of the world’s three largest corn belts, together with the other two in the United States and Ukraine.

Roof of the float: “Jilin-1” satellite, azalea and carp

The “Jilin-1” satellite is the only satellite in China named after a province, and the “Jilin-1” family currently has 13 satellites in orbit.

The patterns of the azalea can be seen everywhere in Yanbian Korean autonomous prefecture. Officials say it symbolizes national unity.

Fishing at Chagan Lake in Jilin has become a typical winter culture in the province, and winter fishing at the lake attracts hosts of visitors each year.

There are also many other details to spot on the Jilin float – the 12 performers represent the people of the Han, Korean, Mongol, and Manchu nationalities, while the Changbai Mountain-shaped LED screen is produced by Changchun Cedar Electronics, who made Jilin province’s parade float 10 years ago.
