Jilin annual people’s congress opens

The second session of the 13th Jilin Provincial People's Congress opened in Changchun, capital of Jilin province, on Jan 26.

Bayanqolu, Party chief of Jilin province, officially declared the event open, and Jing Junhai, governor of the province, delivered the annual work report for 2018.

According to the report, the province saw a year-on-year increase of 4.5 percent in gross regional production, a rise of 2.5 percent in local fiscal revenues, and an increase of 10.7 percent in profits of industrial enterprises above the designated size –– with annual income exceeding 20 million yuan ($2.97 million).

It also saw increases of 6.5 percent increase in per capita disposable income of urban residents, with a 6.2 percent rise for those in rural areas.

The province expects an increase of 5-6 percent in gross regional production in 2019, according to the report.

This year, the government will focus its work on nine areas, including promoting innovation-driven development, implementing a plan to revitalize rural areas, and driving opening-up in the province.
