Modern facilities equipped in government service centers have recently transformed the way public affairs are usually handled in Changchun, capital city of Jilin province since the government service reform took place in the province.

Self-service terminals, for instance, allow people to apply for their business licenses or ID cards without the help of government officials. The entire process takes much less time compared to queing up in front of service windows. These machines also offer people the access to follow up the process of application and check when their issues can be settled.

The terminals will be further upgraded in the future. Functions such as uploading documents, collecting personal information and instant registration will be added to them, according to Song Yutong, chief of the Government Service Section of the Government Service Center of Nanguan District, Jilin province.

People can follow the "Changchun Online Service Center" (长春市网上办事大厅), the official WeChat account of the service centers of Changchun to acquire comprehensive information on the required documents and the process of registration.

"It is literally a service center at my fingertips! I don't have to queue up and face the awkward situation of barely understanding the process. The WeChat platform is extremely convenient!" said Wu Xiaoli, an entrepreneur who was about to start her business in the city. Facial recognition technology is also applied in the service centers so as to verify the identities of citizens.
