China will finish the protection of 6.67 million hectares of black soil during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, improving the quality of farming and increasing organic matter in the soil by 10 percent, according to a plan released recently by the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs and six other departments.
An event named "Defend the Black Soil " hosted by China Jilin Network Information Office held a launch ceremony in Lishu county, Siping city, Northeast China's Jilin province on July 20.

The pollution prevention and control measures taken by Siping city, Northeast China's Jilin province, have obtained remarkable results. By the end of 2020, the proportion of days with good air quality in the city had reached 83.71 percent, with just two days of severe pollution, down three days year-on-year.
