Baicheng builds largest onshore wind power equipment manufacturing base in NE China

Updated: May 10, 2021

A new energy equipment manufacturing base project of Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) was launched on May 8 as a key project of Tongyu county, Baicheng city, Jilin province. The project has drawn the spotlight due to its potential for becoming the largest offshore wind power equipment manufacturing base in Northeast China.

Invested with 1.07 billion yuan ($165.42 million), the project's first phase construction is designed to create a large intelligent manufacturing plant of wind power, and to have an annual production capacity of more than 2 million kilowatts. It aims to develop the industry into a high-end and brand-oriented cluster, and to be second to none in the wind energy field of Northeast China.

Once operational, its annual output value will reach over 5 billion yuan, and the annual tax payment will be about 150 million yuan, with more than 600 jobs new to the market.

To further bring in investment and talents, Tongyu county proposed a new development concept of "trading resources for projects" to boost cross-regional cooperation, and has set up 22 working groups to invite investment via promotional activities in economically developed regions such as the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
