A pairing-up meeting was recently held between a Changchun demonstration zone for cooperation between China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Baicheng city to discuss regional cooperation and exchange views on mutual development.

The ROK is the largest source of foreign investment for Jilin, and the largest source of inbound tourists for the province.

The demonstration zone was unveiled on June 29, 2020, in Changchun, capital of Northeast China's Jilin province. Under the principle of high-quality development, it is an effort to establish a multifaceted open cooperation structure covering industries, technologies, trade, social studies and environmental protection. It also aims to inject new vitality into the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative and overall revitalization of the northeast region.

To better develop the China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone and improve the platform utilization rate, Baicheng city sought cooperation with the zone, leading to the agreement.

They will work together to boost regional cooperation and give full play to their resources and advantages, jointly fostering and developing new industries in a bid to accelerate the mutual prosperity of their respective industries.

The two sides will also promote cooperation in science and technology, technological innovation, and talent construction, along with the development of new business models, and will further deepen cooperation in new energy, green agriculture and intensive processing.

More efforts are expected to be made to usher in an international cooperation mechanism, a modern industrial system, a law-based, international and convenient business environment, and improved management services in the demonstration zone.
