First Peony Flower Festival debuts in Liaoyuan

To promote rural revitalization and further develop rural tourism, a ceremony was held on June 16 to mark the first Peony Flower Festival and the opening of Guda Peony Valley in Longshan district, Liaoyuan city of Northeast China’s Jilin province.

This event is aimed at developing rural tourism based on the modern agricultural development model – the integration of culture, agriculture and tourism - and also focuses on improving the rural living environment.

The Guda Peony Flower Valley covers an area of more than 170,000 square meters and has more than 800,000 peony flowers. Giving full play to its rural resources, it is an ecological agricultural sightseeing tourism demonstration area, featuring specialty catering, flower exhibitions and folk culture.

During the event, the variety of performances and gorgeous peony flower scenery attracted nearly 10,000 visitors. In addition to the flowers, the roasted lamb of Guda village provided the perfect feast for attendees.
