Xianren River, a once tainted river which was described as an "open sewer"”, in Liaoyuan city of Jilin province, has taken on a brand new look after unremitting citywide efforts were made in foul water treatment.

As a key part of Liaoyuan's municipal works and a popular public project, the government attached great importance to the project's progress. The now-clean river has greatly improved the surrounding living environment as well as the livelihoods of the local people.

Now, the waterfront area of Xianren River enjoys beautiful landscapes with fresh green belts and winding paths, and runs through Liaoyuan city. [Photo/jl.gov.cn]
