Jilin University marks 70th anniversary of Earth Science College

Jilin University, based in Changchun, the capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, marked the 70th anniversary of its College of Earth Sciences with a ceremony on May 20.

Based on the theme of "Walking with Glory", the event reviewed the achievements of Jilin University in the earth sciences over the past 70 years, and drew a blueprint for its future direction.

The event was presided over by Lin Jun, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of the Department of Earth Sciences at Jilin University. It was attended by alumni and officials including Xu Shaoshi, former director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Liang Renzhe, vice governor of Jilin province, and Jiang Zhiying, secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University.

Representatives of international partners, including Jon Frampton, vice president of the University of Birmingham, and Robert Reisz, an academic from the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and a distinguished external professor of Jilin University, delivered video speeches to express their blessings.
