The development of Changchun city has been closely linked to movies. Capital of Northeast China's Jilin province, it is the birthplace of modern China's first film studio.

Founded on October 1, 1945, Changchun Film Studio (CFS) has produced over 900 feature films, and dubbed 1,000 films from other countries.

Many far-reaching movies were made here. Among them is the war epic Heroic Sons and Daughters. Produced in 1964, it features a story of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. Adapted from the well-known opera of the same name, the feature film The White-haired Girl was also produced in the Changchun Film Studio and debuted on March 11, 1951.

Movies from the studio have not only been widely praised in China, but have also been recognized at international film festivals: Thirteen Princess Trees garnered the Special Jury Prize at the 19th Tokyo International Film Festival, and Lucky Dog was invited to attend the screening unit of the 61st Cannes International Film Festival.
