Jilin province stages culture, tourism week in Russia

The 2023 Jilin Culture and Tourism Week kicked off on Oct 25 in the port city of Vladivostok, Russia, with an audience of over 1,300 Russians enjoying riveting cultural performances from Northeast China's Jilin province. 

The Jilin Symphony Orchestra performed renowned musical works from Northeast China, bringing a rich cultural experience to the Vladivostok locals. The players also collaborated with the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra to perform well-known pieces including Jasmine Flower and Katyusha.

Before the performance, members of audience got the chance to experience traditional Chinese calligraphy and Chagan Lake fish skin craft. This allowed them to appreciate the charm and artistic value of Jilin's handicrafts and other forms of intangible cultural heritage.

Pu Yangfan, Chinese consul general in Vladivostok, said that the culture tourism week fully showcased distinctive Jilin cultural arts, enhancing the cultural exchanges and friendly cooperation between China and Russia.

The Jilin Culture and Tourism Week is a key project for cultural exchanges promoted by the province. It has visited Russia five times since 2011. In addition to the performances, the 2023 Jilin Culture and Tourism Week will also feature exhibitions, poetry recitals, sports exchanges and more.
