Northeast China's Jilin province is to speed up the development of a modern industrial system, in line with the vision put forward in the Chinese government work report.

Construction work kicked off at 39 key projects in the automobile industry in the province, with a launch ceremony held on Feb 21 in the capital, Changchun city.

What's more, the province is set to establish an industry-university-research cooperation platform to accelerate research and development, promotions and the application of cutting-edge technologies in the automotive industry.

Jilin is also aiming to accelerate the transformation and development of the petrochemicals and new materials industries. It proposes building industrial clusters for the basic chemicals industry, fine chemicals sector and new chemical materials – as well as expanding applications scenarios in aerospace, wind power and other fields.

To further enhance the competitiveness of the medical and health industry, Jilin plans to develop innovative drugs such as high-end raw materials and intermediates – and to build an advanced medical devices innovation center.

In the equipment manufacturing sector, Jilin is ready to accelerate the engineering verification of China's series of high-speed EMU trains and the development and production of new products. It is also set to develop a new energy equipment industry supply chain integrating complete wind power units, as well as turbines, blades, energy storage and other associated equipment.

To boost the high-quality development of its service sector, 22 major projects are to be implemented and the transformation and upgrading of logistics infrastructure will be strengthened.

Furthermore, plans are for Jilin to bolster its industrial innovation capabilities, accelerate the development of smart agriculture and accelerate the layout of the satellite applications industry supply chain. That will be with satellite remote sensing, communications and navigation applications at the core.
