Updated: February 16, 2022

The prefecture-level city of Siping – located in Northeast China's Jilin province – plans to establish a hydrogen energy research institute, in an initiative that will help to promote the expansion of the hydrogen energy supply chain in the city, according to local media reports.

At present, development plans for the Siping Shuangliao Yuanwanghechu Green Power Industry Demonstration Park have been approved by the Jilin Provincial Energy Bureau.

The park is set to use a "new energy + hydrogen production" model to solve the problem of electricity consumption in the province.

Jilin's steel industry is a high-energy-consuming industry.

It is expected that the park will increase the application of hydrogen energy in the steel industry, improve the energy consumption structure of high-energy-consuming enterprises, as well as increase the use of hydrogen energy.
