Northeast China's Jilin province has unveiled new initiatives to preserve and promote its rich cultural heritage, following the decisions of the recent fifth Plenary Session of the 12th CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.

Recognizing cultural heritage as a key carrier of Chinese traditional culture, the region is focusing on a systematic approach to safeguarding its historical legacy while promoting its sustainable development.

Key measures include conducting the fourth cultural relics census and expanding a provincial heritage protection directory.

In addition, efforts will be made to digitize the province's relics, enforce archaeological-first land policies and protect historical streets, traditional villages and industrial heritage.

Jilin will also emphasize research and interpretation – creating a comprehensive cultural heritage database and developing academic projects like the compilation of the Jilin Encyclopedia.

What's more, the province plans to enhance professional training and international cooperation in order to strengthen its research capabilities.

In terms of utilizing its cultural heritage, Jilin aims to convert old industrial sites and historical areas into cultural industry zones and tourism destinations.

New public cultural spaces will blend education and cultural services, while museums that are dedicated to Jilin's significant historical contributions – including the Northeast Anti-Japanese War and the cradle of China's automobile industry – will be expanded.

Through these actions, Jilin has committed itself to preserving its cultural heritage and leveraging its tourism and cultural riches.
