Located in Jiaohe city, Northeast China's Jilin province, Laoyeling Station is situated along the Changbai Mountain range at an altitude of 1284.7 meters. The climate here is unique. While other places experience light snow in winter, Laoyeling is blanketed with heavy snow, creating a distinct environment.

Station director Fan Zengzhi, who lives in Jiaohe, explained, "Our station is nestled deep in the mountains, and the climate here is different from other places. We experience winter for over five months. It's not just cold; it snows almost every day. Even though the snowfall in Jilin this winter has been light, here it's relentless. Every time we clear the snow from the switches, it takes us over half an hour to maneuver through the snowdrifts."

In the cold weather, combined with the snow waves that are churned up by snowplows, everyone becomes a "snowman".
