Chemical fiber manufacturer Jilin Chemical Fiber Group Co – based in the Changyi district of Jilin city, in Northeast China's Jilin province – saw phase one of its 150,000-metric-ton raw silk project reach a production capacity of 50,000 tons on Oct 15, according to local media reports.

Phase one is a key development in the new 400,000-ton carbon fiber industry chain project in Jilin province.

To date, the project has achieved breakthroughs in the capacity design of its polymerization unit and the upgrading of process indicators, the precise and stable glue supply control of the doping unit and the flexible adjustment to its large towing product equipment for its spinning unit.

At present, the plant has successfully passed downstream tests and the quality and performance are up to standard.

This is expected to drive the production efficiency for wind power blades, high-pressure gas cylinder winding, prepreg and other fields to increase by 40 percent and the production costs will be greatly reduced.

It is estimated that by the end of the year, Jilin Chemical Fiber's carbon fiber precursor production capacity will reach 160,000 tons, effectively meeting downstream demand and making a positive contribution to the development of a "China Carbon Valley".
