CNPC Jilin Petrochemical Co – based in Jilin city, in Northeast China's Jilin province – achieved a cumulative efficiency increase worth over 300 million yuan ($44.67 million) in the first five months of the current year, according to Jilin Daily.

The PSA transformation of the natural gas hydrogen production unit has been completed and units making butanol and ethylene propylene rubber, among others, have been optimized for operation. The production optimization is reported to have continued to increase, effectively promoting efficiency.

A massive upgrading project was launched by the company in February.

The development is a key project in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) of the company's parent group – Beijing-headquartered national oil and gas producer China National Petroleum Corporation, or CNPC – and Jilin province.

With a total investment of 33.9 billion yuan, the project is currently the largest industrial project being funded by a single group in Jilin province. It marks a new stage in the company's efforts to go green and low-carbon – and to expand its digital transformation and intelligent development.

It is also said to mark a new starting point for the Jilin chemicals industry to embark on high-quality development, green development and cluster development.
