Construction of 30 key projects kicks off in Huadian city

Construction work on a slew of 30 major projects costing a combined 13.08 billion yuan ($2.07 billion) began in Huadian city, located in Northeast China's Jilin province, with a commencement ceremony held on Feb 28, according to local media reports.

They follow another 30 projects that Huadian kicked off construction since the start of the year, worth more than 50 million yuan each, with a total investment of 14.36 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 4.26 billion yuan.

On Feb 28, among the latest projects to break ground was the Changbai Mountains wild pecan milk and vegetable protein beverage venture, which will cost 350 million yuan. After completion, it is projected to generate an annual operating income of 510 million yuan, taxes of 40 million yuan and create jobs for more than 100 people.

This year, Huadian plans to implement 40 projects, worth more than 50 million yuan each, mainly involving food and medicine, machinery manufacturing, modern agriculture, organic food, mineral processing and other fields.

The total investment will be 15.84 billion yuan and the annual investment in the city is expected to increase by 20 percent year-on-year.
