A group wedding ceremony took place at Changbai Mountain in Northeast China's Jilin province, on July 8, with 50 newly married couples participating, according to local reports.

Organizers said that the couples -- who came from provinces including Hubei, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Jilin -- were medical workers, police officers, volunteers and ordinary workers who have made invaluable contributions to the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus epidemic.

The event was hosted by Changbai Mountain Development and Construction Group, paying tribute to those who fought against the epidemic and postponed their weddings.

Zhong Nanshan, the eminent epidemiologist and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering -- who led the nation's medical expert teams in Hubei's fight against the epidemic -- sent his blessings to the participating couples through a video link.

Hot spring eggs, which are specialty of Changbai Mountain, were given to couples and they were transported by Hongqi sedans -- a brand of Changchun-based FAW Group.

In addition, the organizers also offered photo shoots, a wedding feast, and sightseeing services to the couples at Changbai Mountain.
