Updated: February 21, 2022

The Ningbo-Hunchun-Europe freight train was officially launched recently, with the first train departing Feb 8 from Hunchun city in Northeast China's Jilin province, bound for the border city of Malaszewicze in Poland.

The goods mainly came from the Yangtze River Delta region and after loading at Ningbo Zhoushan Port, they were sent by sea to Yingkou, and then transported by road and rail to Hunchun and subsequently freighted to Europe through Hunchun railway port.

Hunchun city is located at the geometric center of Northeast Asia. It is China's window into Northeast Asia and is one of the starting points of the Siberian Landbridge. It currently boasts four national-level railway and highway ports.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province and Hunchun city have a long history of conducting commerce.

In 2011, the two parties launched the Hunchun-Luojin-Ningbo route to start a domestic and international logistics business for bulk cargo and opened a container transportation venture in 2017.

In August 2017, Zhejiang and Jilin signed a counterpart cooperation framework agreement, paving the way for more exchanges, trade and commerce.

In 2018, Ningbo Zhoushan Port and Hunchun city launched the Hunchun-Zarubino Port-Ningbo domestic trade goods cross-border freight service.

At present, the transport value of this route tops 600 million yuan ($94.62 million) annually, and the partners have built a fast, convenient, economical and fast-track logistics channel for import and export enterprises in Jilin and Zhejiang.

With the further deepening of cooperation between the two parties, Ningbo Zhoushan Port and Hunchun city have established a joint venture company to jointly build-out Hunchun International Port.
