Yanbian apple pear is a scion of a variety of pears introduced from North Korea in 1921 and grafted with a hardy Sorbus from Xiaoji village, Taoyuan township, Longjing city.
The fruit is oblate, with a dot-shaped blush on the surface, which resembles an apple. In 1985, the Yanbian apple pear was rated as the country's first high-quality pear.
