Northeast China's Jilin province – a global hub for ginseng production – is actively implementing the Changbai Mountain Ginseng Revitalization Project, in order to enhance the industry's crop quality and sustainability.

Among the key production areas, Ji'an city's Yisheng Ginseng Industrial Park exemplifies this growth. It showcases ginseng's diverse applications beyond traditional foods like ginseng chicken soup – extending into cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and more.

The Changbai Mountain region, with its optimal tree density and conditions, ensures high-quality ginseng cultivation – resulting in a harvest of 34,000 metric tons in 2023.

As tourism peaks in the area, specialized ginseng stores in Fusong county are experiencing a surge in sales, reflecting a rising demand for premium products.

Known as the "Home of Chinese Ginseng," Fusong county hosts the world's largest national ginseng market, accounting for 80 percent of China's ginseng trade. In 2023, Jilin's ginseng industry achieved a remarkable comprehensive output value topping 70 billion yuan ($9.94 billion) – representing a hefty 10.3-percent increase on the previous year.

This growth is widely said to not only highlight the importance of ginseng to Jilin's economy, but also signals a bright future as the industry continues to expand its reach and capitalize on new market opportunities.
