Songyuan Airport in Songyuan, Northeast China's Jilin province will resume Xi'an, Shaanxi province flights on Dec 21 and launch a new Chengdu, Sichuan province air route on Dec 25 to boost its tourism sector this winter, according to local media reports.

Both of the flights will operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The one-way ticket before tax for the two flights will be offered at a discounted price of around 300 yuan ($47.13).

The airport will also launch a series of travel discount packages with domestic airlines during the winter ice fishing season at Chagan Lake.

Winter ice fishing at Chagan Lake is a spectacular activity with thousands of people drilling holes in the ice in an attempt to catch fresh fish. Vehicles run day and night for delivery.

Since 2002, Chagan Lake hosts a grand ice, snow, fishing and cultural tourism festival at the end of December each year.
