The Ice-skating Marathon, a pioneer event in China, took place on the frozen surface of the 21-kilometer-long and 12-meter-wide Songhua River. Over 7,000 athletes and winter sports enthusiasts registered to take part in various competitions. This event also attracted over 30,000 visitors from both within and outside the province, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest ice-skating event series.

Participating in an ice-skating marathon presents a formidable physical test. To support the athletes, a supply station will be available every kilometer along the track, offering amenities such as warming facilities, ginger sugar water, salt pills, and bread. Currently, 12 supply stations have been strategically positioned along the route.

In preparation for the event, the Jilin Provincial Sports Bureau has arranged essential protective gear for all participants and staff members, including heated socks, gloves, and warm patches. This event not only showcases the spirit of winter sports, but also promotes the natural beauty and sports potential of the region.
