Changbai Mountains Scenic Area to be research, study base

The Changbai Mountains Scenic Area, located in Northeast China's Jilin province, has been selected as one of 31 national research, study and travel bases, according to local media reports.

A total of seven places in Jilin province are on the list, including the Changbai Mountains Scenic Area, the Liudingshan Cultural Tourism Area, the Tonghua Yongxin Happy Valley Research Base and the Changchun Lianhua Island Research Base.

The Changbai Mountains Scenic Area is located in the southeastern part of Jilin province, with abundant resources and a wide variety of animals and plants.

According to statistics, there are more than 1,800 kinds of higher plants, more than 50 kinds of mammals, more than 280 kinds of birds, more than 50 kinds of fish and more than 1,000 kinds of insects in the scenic area.

It is a national 5A scenic area, a member of the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve Program and an international A-level nature reserve.
