Baishan city reports steady economic growth in 2021

Baishan city, located in Northeast China's Jilin province, reported steady economic growth in 2021, with major economic indicators seeing gains, according to the Jilin Provincial Statistics Bureau.

According to preliminary estimates, Baishan's regional GDP was 54.14 billion yuan ($8.07 billion) in 2021, an increase of 6.4 percent over the previous year at comparable prices.

In terms of its different industry categories, the added value of the primary industry was 6.72 billion yuan, an increase of 6.5 percent while the added value of the secondary industry was 14.48 billion yuan, up 6.3 percent. The added value of the tertiary industry was 32.94 billion yuan, a 6.3 percent gain.

The scale of fiscal revenue expanded throughout the year. The city recorded a general budget fiscal revenue of 5.17 billion yuan, an increase of 11 percent year-on-year.

Elsewhere, local-level fiscal revenue was 2.55 billion yuan, an increase of 8.9 percent and the annual tax revenue was 1.53 billion yuan, 19.8 percent higher.

The city completed a financial expenditure of 14.62 billion yuan, of which expenditure on public services, living conditions and employment was 7.97 billion yuan, accounting for 54.5 percent of the total financial expenditure.

The city's consumer price index increased by 0.4 percent year-on-year, while various price indices continued to operate within a reasonable range.

During the period, the added value of the city's 167 industrial enterprises above a designated size – those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan or more – increased by 7.7 percent year-on-year.

In 2021, agricultural development and production were stable. The city achieved an added value of 6.84 billion yuan in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries, an increase of 4.9 percent over the previous year.
