Lovely Linjiang – administered by Baishan city, in Northeast China's Jilin province – has been chosen as one of 40 traditional villages recognized nationally for their conservation and utilization demonstration of a way of life.
Traditional villages are widely viewed as being the epitome of the farming way of life and local culture. They are characterized by a rural environment, architectural style and location that have not altered much over the years and that retain enduring and unique folk customs.

The selection of traditional Chinese villages has certain conditions attached. That is, their historical and cultural accumulations need to be relatively deep and their physical appearance needs to be relatively well preserved. Traditional buildings should have a certain protection value and intangible cultural heritage should be inherited, among other things.
