From January to September this year, the number of projects worth 50 million yuan ($7.81 million) or more in Baishan, Northeast China's Jilin province increased by 11.6 percent year-on-year, according to local media reports.

Of those, industrial projects accounted for 43.2 percent.

As of the end of September, the city has rolled out 142 major projects worth over 100 million yuan each, with a total planned investment of 63.64 billion yuan, including 70 industrial transformation projects.

A natural drinking water project is being developed by Nongfu Spring in Lincheng Industrial Park in Baishan's Linjiang city. The project is expected to produce 1.19 million metric tons of natural drinking water annually after being put into operation.

The project will give full play to the economic benefits of Linjiang's move to introduce springs into the city, and make the drinking water industry a pillar industry for green transformation and development in Linjiang.

Baishan has made strong efforts to develop its pharmaceutical and health industry. It implemented the Ginseng Industry Revitalization Project, built a national-level Changbai Mountains ginseng provenance protection base and seed bank, and coordinated resources in Northeast China.

Baishan has promoted its eco-tourism industry, strengthened regional cooperation, and jointly launched the "Changbai Mountains" tourism brand. A number of tourism towns focusing on ecology, ice and snow, health care, and characteristic agriculture have been established.

In addition, Baishan has integrated the diatomite resources in the region and established a diatomite research institute to promote the upgrading of the diatomite industry and create a world-class demonstration zone for the entire diatomite industry chain.
