Northeast China's Jilin province has been taking advantage of its formidable ice and snow resources, with redoubled efforts made in promoting its winter sector, according to local media reports.

Jilin is said to be blessed with what it has to offer to visitors during the colder months. In recent years, it has sought to fast-forwards the development of its winter economy, as well as the entire related industrial supply chain including tourism, sports, culture and associated equipment manufacturing.

Changbai Mountains in the east of Jilin – coupled with Jilin city and Changchun city in the middle of the province – are widely regarded as wonderlands of ice and snow.

On its own, Changbai Mountains boast some of the world's best-quality winter season resources and are known as one of the world’s top three powder snow caps – along with the Swiss Alps and the Rocky Mountains.

To date, Jilin province has built 54 ski resorts and installed 279 ski runs with a maximum daily capacity of about 100,000 visitors.

Every winter in Jilin province, more than 500 outdoor skating rinks are set up. Many ski resorts have established primary ski runs and entertainment snow parks, which are open to the public.

In recent years, sports and tourism there have been closely integrated and nearly 50 national sports tourism boutique projects have been declared.

Furthermore, Jilin is actively carrying out ice and snow sports courses in schools and is encouraging teenagers and youngsters to take part in training and competition events.
