Baicheng city plots path towards rural revitalization

The prefecture-level city of Baicheng – situated in Northeast China's Jilin province – is said to have undertaken a series of innovation measures, last year developing what is known locally as the "Baicheng Model" for rural revitalization, according to local media reports.

Moreover, Baicheng has established a special departmental investigative and comparisons mechanism.

In nine key industry sectors, including agriculture, education, health care, medical insurance, housing construction and civil affairs, quantitative and detailed investigations were performed and industry data was collated and compared on a month-by-month basis.

Throughout the year, data sharing was carried out on 24 occasions, data comparisons were undertaken seven times and 87,000 individual pieces of information were aggregated.

Over the past year, an estimated 1,037 individuals people were newly included in the surveyed and assistance population in the city, while a network of village groups was further organized.

During the period, Baicheng's five counties and districts spent more than 50 percent of the connecting 590 million yuan ($93 million) to develop various industries, bringing the number of industrial development projects in the city to 664 and boosting the incomes of 78,000 households in a poverty alleviation program.

To comprehensively implement support policies,  in such spheres as education, medical care, housing, drinking water and finance, Baicheng cooperated with leading intelligent speech and artificial intelligence company iFLYTEK Co, Ltd.

The group built a smart medical assistant platform covering township health centers, with a total of 34,000 diagnoses and treatments performed to date.
