Construction work on the Three Gorges on Land project, a major new energy project, began in Baicheng, Northeast China's Jilin province, is progressing smoothly, according to local media reports.

The main area of the project consists of Baicheng, Songyuan and Siping's Shuangliao, and it includes 3 cities and 11 counties/county-level cities/districts, covering an area of about 51,000 square kilometers. It is the core area of the National Songliao New Energy Base.

By 2025, the project will seek to achieve an installed new energy capacity of 30 million kilowatts and an annual power generation of 80 billion kilowatt-hours.

As of early January, Jilin province's installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation has exceeded 10 million kilowatts.

Jilin plans to promote the construction of the "Changchun-Songyuan-Baicheng" hydrogen energy corridor and develop Baicheng and Songyuan into national-level "green hydrogen" large-scale supply bases.

Baicheng is the country's only local wind power consumption demonstration zone and is a national new energy demonstration city.

In 2018, Baicheng began developing its hydrogen energy industry, and it has since been striving to become the "Hydrogen Valley of North China".

Baicheng is looking to become home to a complete industrial chain for hydrogen production, hydrogen storage, hydrogen transportation and hydrogen use, with a focus on the development of hydrogen energy equipment, hydrogen fuel cells and vehicles.
