Jilin signs agreements with Chinese Academy of Sciences

Cities and prefectures in Northeast China's Jilin province signed cooperation agreements on Dec 21 with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, or CAS, aimed at boosting scientific and technological innovation, so as to galvanize the province's revitalization and development, according to local media reports. 

Under the agreements, Jilin and the CAS will focus their efforts on key core technologies in the province's major industries. These include automotive parts, high-end computer chips, the efficient use of new energy, biological vaccines, genetic engineering and carbon fibers. 

Cooperation will also be conducted in areas including aerospace, high-end equipment manufacturing, black soil protection and seed industry provenance. 

Various cities and prefectures and key development zones respectively signed cooperation agreements with the CAS Changchun Branch, as well as with the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry and the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology. 

The ceremony also saw the signing of cooperation agreements between these R&D institutes and Jilin-based companies, including CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, Dirui Medical Technology Co and Jilin Longyuan Agricultural Co. 

A total of 13 CAS institutes outside Jilin province signed online contracts with enterprises based in Jilin.
