A new flight officially launched in Northeast China's Jilin province on Nov 4, linking Tonghua in Jilin with Dalian in Liaoning province and Sanya in Hainan province, according to local media reports.

The flight, operated by China Southern Airlines on an aircraft A320, is scheduled to fly three times a week - on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The one-way journey from Tongliao to Sanya takes eight hours to complete.

The opening of the new route provides new opportunities for cultural exchange, economic and trade exchange, market interaction, and resource-sharing in the regions.

So far, Tonghua Airport has opened six air routes to nine domestic cities including Beijing, Tianjin region, Guangzhou, Dalian, Shanghai, and Hangzhou, covering the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Southeast China's coastal areas.
