Meihekou in Tonghua, Northeast China's Jilin province has made strides in investment, optimizing its industrial structure, and improving the urban environment, according to local media reports.
Since the beginning of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), the city's major economic indicators have maintained a growth rate of more than 15 percent, and the county-level city has ranked first in the comprehensive evaluation of county economic strength in the province for seven consecutive years.
According to the latest ranking of the top 100 counties announced by the Research Institute of Development Strategy for Small and Medium-Sized Cities earlier in September, the comprehensive strength of Meihekou went from 93rd in 2019 to 89th.

Downtown Meihekou boasts an ingenious layout of rivers, roads, lakes, wetlands and buildings.
The city has promoted the in-depth integration of culture, sports and tourism, and formed a new pattern of all-for-one tourism with local characteristics.
During the May Day holiday in 2020, a health promotion event was held in the city, attracting some 1.23 million tourists, and it also held a garden party event using modern holographic projection and other technologies to boost the night economy and received a total of 330,000 tourists.
