Northeast China's Jilin province is revamping its payment services to better cater to diverse needs, including those of the elderly and foreign visitors. It recently announced the Implementation Plan for Optimizing Payment Services and Enhancing Convenience.

With a focus on major commercial areas, tourist spots, resorts, cultural venues, hotels, transportation hubs, and hospitals, the plan aims to create payment demonstration zones and centers, starting with Changbai Mountain Chibei Area, key airports, and prominent railway stations.

In the short term, the province plans to equip key locations with facilities that accept domestic and foreign bank cards, mobile payments, cash, and conduct currency exchange. Within three months, foreign card acceptance will be available in key areas. Additionally, banks will distribute "change purses" to businesses, and improvements will be made in regard to its ATMs and foreign currency exchange centers.

This initiative aims to elevate payment services, ensuring a seamless experience for residents and tourists, ultimately enhancing their stay in Jilin.

Looking forward, Jilin seeks to develop a comprehensive payment system encompassing cash payments, foreign card acceptance, mobile payments, and account services, fostering their parallel growth and internationalization.

International tourism is vital for Jilin's economy, with inbound tourism being a key economic driver. Efforts are underway to optimize payment services for inbound tourists, particularly in key tourist cities like Changchun and Yanji.
