Changchun ice, snow festival opens with great fanfare

The 27th Changchun Ice and Snow Festival and the opening ceremony of Changchun Ice and Snow New World were held with great fanfare in Changchun – capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province – on Dec 12.

The glittering opening ceremony featured a screening of an awesome promotional video showcasing Changchun's ice and snow tourism.

Since its inception in 1998, the Changchun Ice and Snow Festival has been held for 26 consecutive years, attracting a total of 300 million visitors.

It's become a renowned domestic ice and snow event that tells the story of Changchun's ice and snow, extends an invitation to experience it and supports the growth of Changchun's ice and snow economy.

Changchun has consistently been honored as one of the top 10 cities for its ice and snow tourism in China.

This year, the Changchun Ice and Snow New World covers an area of 1.56 million square meters, with a total ice and snow volume of 738,000 cubic meters. It offers 30 experiential entertainment projects and over 500 performances, setting new records in various aspects. The park also features a gigantic snow sculpture called Shuey Rhon Rhon.

Additionally, there are over 100 food stalls offering a variety of snacks from all over the country, as well as a wide range of cuisines including fast food from both Chinese and Western cultures and specialties from Northeast China.
